Your Asia Cup Betting Guide to the Hows and Whys of Betting Odds
A price on an Asia Cup match only makes sense once you know why it moved. Here’s how Asia Cup cricket betting odds work, and why they change from one edition to the next.
If you have ever needed a one-stop-shop kind of betting guide on cricket’s Asia Cup, you have come to the right place! This Asia Cup betting guide goes through the hows and whys: how odds are worked out, why they move and what you’ll find on Arena365.
Odds on an Asia Cup match can look strange if you’ve only followed other tournaments. A team that’s a clear favourite over 20 overs may be priced very differently when the same event is played over 50. Add a Super Four where the same two sides keep meeting, and prices have plenty of reasons to shift. So, before we begin, let’s first understand the tournament itself.
What the Asia Cup Is
The Asian Cricket Council runs it, and it’s the main men’s tournament for teams from the region. The first edition was played in Sharjah, UAE, in 1984, and 17 had been played by 2025. For most of its history it was a 50-over event, called an ODI, which is short for One Day International. Since 2016 the tournament has swapped between ODI and T20, where each side bats for 20 overs, so that it matches the format of the next World Cup. So 2016, 2022 and 2025 were T20 editions, while 2018 and 2023 were ODIs.
Who Plays in the Asia Cup
India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are the region’s full members and form the core of the field. Associate teams such as Hong Kong, the UAE, Oman and Nepal have joined in some years, usually by winning a qualifier. The 2025 edition, a T20 event held in the UAE, had eight teams in two groups of four:
Group A: India, Pakistan, the UAE and Oman
Group B: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong
The field shifts between editions, so check who’s in before you bet.
Who Has Won the Most Asia Cups?
India lead the table with nine titles: 1984, 1988, 1990/91, 1995, 2010, 2016, 2018, 2023 and 2025.
Sri Lanka are next on six: 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014 and 2022.
Pakistan have two: 2000 and 2012.
Nobody else has won it, and Bangladesh have come closest, losing the finals of 2012, 2016 and 2018.
How the Tournament Is Played
Recent editions follow three steps. Teams are split into groups and meet each opponent once, then the top two from each group go into a second stage called the Super Four. The top two from there play the final. In T20 editions a tie is settled by a Super Over, and if rain interrupts, the DLS method sets a new target. The format has been reshaped a few times over the years, so look up the one for the edition you’re betting on.
Three Things That Set the Asia Cup Apart
The format is the first. A 50-over Asia Cup has long middle overs and bigger totals than a T20 one, and a line from one edition says little about the next.
Then there’s the repeat fixtures. Because of the Super Four, two teams can meet in the group stage, again in the Super Four and a third time in the final. India and Pakistan did exactly that in 2025, and India won all three.
Last, the tournament has no fixed home. The UAE staged the 2018 and 2025 editions, and 2023 was split between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, so pitches and conditions change with the venue.
How Asia Cup Odds Work
Every Asia Cup betting guide needs a quick lesson in odds, so here’s one. Arena365 shows decimal odds, which keeps the sum simple: stake times odds gives your total return, stake included. Say a Super Four game has Team A at 1.75 and Team B at 2.10. A ₹1,000 bet on Team A gets you ₹1,750 back, a profit of ₹750. The same bet on Team B returns ₹2,100, a profit of ₹1,100.
Odds also carry a view of how likely each side is. Divide 1 by the price and Team A comes to about 57%, Team B to about 48%. Add them and you get roughly 105%. The extra 5% is the bookmaker’s margin. Other markets work the same way. A player run total of 24.5, with over and under both at 1.90, returns ₹1,900 on ₹1,000, so ₹900 is profit.
Why Asia Cup Odds Move
Prices aren’t fixed, and a few things shift them. The format is the big one, because a batter who looks like a 40-run player over 20 overs can be a 60-run player over 50. The venue matters as well, since a slow, dry pitch and a flat one produce different totals. Team news counts too, such as a captain being rested or an opening batter missing out. Then there’s the match itself. Say Team A loses two early wickets while chasing. Its price might drift from 1.75 to 2.50, which is 40%. Same game, new view. These numbers are only an illustration.
Asia Cup Betting Markets on Arena365
A betting market is just the thing you’re betting on. “Who wins the match” is one, and “how many runs come in this over” is another. In this Asia Cup betting guide, the winner market comes first. You pick a side, including the Super Over result, or you back a tie. Beyond that, you can bet on the runs in a single chosen over, on a named batter finishing above or below a line such as 24.5, or on whether any player scores 50 or 100.
Wicket markets are there too. You can pick how the first wicket falls, such as caught, bowled, LBW, run out or stumped, or bet on the team score when it does. Two more look at the whole side: which team has the top batter, and which has the top bowler. Team totals, the toss and most sixes or fours round out the list.
Not every match opens every market, and the lines are bigger in a 50-over game than in a T20, so check the match page for the numbers.
Asia Cup Betting Tips for Each Stage
No Asia Cup cricket betting tip removes the risk. They just help you read what’s in front of you.
In the group stage, a full member against an Associate team often arrives at very short odds, so a win pays little. A player market can tell you more than the winner market. Check the format first, as the same player can be priced very differently over 50 overs and over 20.
By the Super Four, the teams may already have met, and a side that’s through can change its line-up. Look at who is playing and where, not just the last result.
Finals are where the odd things happen. In the 2022 final in Dubai, Sri Lanka made 170 for 6, with Bhanuka Rajapaksa scoring 71 off 45 balls, and Pakistan were bowled out for 147, a 23-run win. In the 2023 final in Colombo, Sri Lanka were all out for 50 in 15.2 overs, with Mohammed Siraj taking 6 for 21, including four wickets in a single over. India reached 51 without losing a wicket in 6.1 overs, winning by 10 wickets with 263 balls to spare. A game that short settles totals and over bets early. The 2025 final went the other way. Pakistan made 146 and India got there with 150 for 5 in 19.4 overs, two balls to spare.
Be careful with totals when rain is forecast. And whatever the stage, the rule in this Asia Cup betting guide stays the same: bets can’t be cancelled or edited once they’re accepted. Pick a stake you’re comfortable losing, go smaller on live bets and never raise it to chase a loss.
